    Dr. Sven Strickroth holds a PhD degree with distinction in Computer Science from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He was a member of our research group from 2010 till 2016. His Bachelor's thesis, delivered in 2009, describes methods and tools for supporting learners and tutors in introductory Computer Science courses (GATE project). The resulting software system for exercise handling and plagiarism detection is currently in regular usage in lectures at Clausthal University of Technology. His Master's thesis, delivered in 2011, investigated recommender systems for smaller, regionally bounded communities and proposed a new hybrid approach.

    Sven joined the research group "Human-Centered Information Systems" of Prof. Pinkwart at Clausthal University of Technology as a graduate research assistant in April 2010 in a split appointment with the "Mobile and Enterprise Computing" group. He conducted research on using mobile technology to assist parents of young children deal with education issues (Mobile2Learn project).

    From November of 2011 to July 2013, Sven was working on the eCult project in a split appointment with the research group of Prof. Pinkwart and the Computing Center of Clausthal University of Technology. On his position in the Computing Center, Sven developed and enhanced the official video server and video encoding architecture. In the group of Prof. Pinkwart, he worked as a research assistant and PhD student. For the eCULT project Sven was part of the team which investigated and specified a first version of an XML exchange format for programming tasks.

    In August 2013 Sven followed Prof. Pinkwart to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. There he conducted research on lesson planning systems and developed as well as evaluated the PLATON system. Sven delivered his Ph.D. thesis in Mai 2016 and successfully defended it in September 2016.
